My commitment to members

Serving as leader of Wildrose and Leader of the Opposition was one of the greatest honours of my life. I have found nothing more rewarding than representing the interests of Albertans every single day and fighting back against the disastrous policies of the NDP government and Trudeau Liberals. For me, this isn’t just a job, though it is the most important one I’ve ever had. It’s an absolute privilege knowing that members and Albertans were entrusting me with their support. It’s why I never once asked for, nor took a paycheque from the party while I was Wildrose leader. As an elected MLA and Leader of the Opposition, I was compensated more than enough. It’s also why I am committing now that I will never take a salary from the United Conservative Party. Every dime the party raises to build our campaign war chest is sacred and ought to be treated that way. The combination of new electoral finance laws, donation limits, and a faltering economy mean that donations are not easy to come by. The hard earned money donated to the party by the members should go toward building up the party so that we can defeat the NDP in 2019, not padding the pockets of whomever is elected leader. This is just one of my commitments to you, the members. I've never been afraid to put forward my priorities on policy, that's why the last nine straight major, independent, scientific public polls have shown that I'm the clear choice to defeat in NDP in 2019 in every part of the province.
